郭瑞祥現為臺灣大學管理學院教授,並於2024年8月起借調至健行科技大學擔任校長。郭瑞祥教授畢業于臺灣大學,1987年及1991年分別獲得美國麻省理工學院工程碩士及機械工程博士。博士期間專攻製造系統,副修半導體製造技術。郭教授于1991~1995年服務於美國加州矽谷的國家半導體公司,擔任研究員,並于其間獲得加州州立大學企業管理碩士學位。郭教授于1995年2月返台于臺灣大學工商管理學系暨商研所任教至今,曾於2006至2008年擔任工商管理學系暨商研所系主任與所長,2008至2013年擔任台大進修推廣學院院長,2013至2019年擔任台大管理學院院長,2018年同時兼任台大副校長,現擔任台大創意與創業中心主任。
郭教授在台大大學部與研究所教學課程以創新管理、作業管理、供應鏈管理為主。郭教授曾于2006年與2024年前往哈佛商學院參加課程進修,亦負責教授台大EMBA的「服務與營運管理」、「創業與創新管理」、「價值鏈與生態創新」等課程,並曾八次獲得臺灣大學「教學優良獎」及一次臺灣大學「教學傑出獎」,也獲得臺灣大學「特聘教授」獎及第一屈「優良導師獎」。
郭教授研究方向以供應鏈管理、商業資料分析、科技創新、服務創新為主,研究成果經常發表于國際知名學術期刊上,曾於2003-2022擔任IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing國際學術期刊的副總編輯工作,亦曾榮獲管理科學學會「管理學報」年度最佳論文。郭教授亦常與知名公司進行產學合作、開發軟體系統、擔任企業顧問,以其結合管理理論與實務。郭教授曾於2016年擔任亞太商管學會會長。
郭教授工作之餘喜愛運動,參與馬拉松比賽及鐵人三項比賽。曾九次帶領台大EMBA同學參加戈壁挑戰賽,也完成過100個以上的全馬以及世界六大馬拉松賽,也完成過226超級鐵人三項比賽。郭教授曾由天下文化於2013年出版「勇敢做唯一的自己」,2020年出版「人生第二曲線」,鼓勵專業人士應該「走出舒適區,進入勇氣區」,並在人生道路上重視愛、生活、學習的平衡觀。
Ruey-Shan Andy Guo
Dr. Ruey-Shan Guo is currently a professor at the College of Management, National Taiwan University (NTU), and temporarily transferred to serve as the President of Chien-Hsin University of Science and Technology starting August 2024. Professor Guo graduated from NTU and received his Master's degree in Engineering and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1987 and 1991, respectively. During his doctoral studies, he specialized in manufacturing systems and minored in semiconductor manufacturing technology.
From 1991 to 1995, Professor Guo worked as a research engineer at National Semiconductor Corporation in Santa Clara, California, where he also earned an MBA from San Jose State University. In February 1995, he returned to Taiwan to teach at the Department of Business Administration at NTU. He served as the Department Chair from 2006 to 2008, as the Dean of the School of Professional Education and Continuing Studies from 2008 to 2013, as the Dean of the College of Management from 2013 to 2019, and as the Vice President of NTU in 2018. He is currently the Director of the Taidah Entrepreneurship Center.
Professor Guo's teaching focuses on innovation management, operations management, and supply chain management at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He attended courses at Harvard Business School in 2006 and 2024 and teaches NTU EMBA courses such as "Service and Operations Management," "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management," and "Value Chain and Ecosystem Innovation." He has received NTU's "Outstanding Teaching Award" once and "Excellent Teaching Award" eight times. He also received "Excellent Mentor Award" and "Distinguished Professor" awards at NTU.
Professor Guo's research interests include supply chain management, business data analytics, technological innovation and service innovation. His research is frequently published in internationally renowned academic journals. From 2003 to 2022, he served as the associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Semiconductor Manufacturing journal and was awarded the "Best Paper" of the year by the Journal of Management and Business Research. He has been a principal investigator or co-PI to many industry and institution funded projects. He also served as the President of Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools in 2016.
Outside of his professional work, Professor Guo enjoys sports and participates in marathons and triathlons. He has led NTU EMBA students in the Gobi Challenge nine times and has completed over 100 full marathons, including the World Marathon Majors, as well as the 226-kilometer Ironman Triathlon. He authored "Dare to Be the Only One" published by Commonwealth Publishing in 2013, and "The Second Curve of Life" in 2020, encouraging professionals to "step out of their comfort zone and into the courage zone," and to emphasize the balance of love, life, and learning on their life journey.
